Have a listen to Daniel Schmatchenberger’s Humanity’s phase shift. Deeply insightful and slightly frightening. This conversation with David Fuller of Rebel Wisdom looks at the growing civilisation-level crisis that we are beginning to see around us, and looks at what a genuine ‘phase shift’ for human progress might look like.
We face as a species the problems of poor governance, decision making, competition and lack of respect and connection with nature. The core of this problem is private ownership combined with the lack of understanding of how life works on this planet … resulting in destructive behaviours and the tragedy of the commons.

Perhaps a modified form of capitalism where we make decisions on a triple bottom line basis, resources are held in the commons and people are held accountable for their actions could create a great way forward. Get rid of competition and move to creativity and collaboration, remove corruption and move to care, openness and transparence. There is a need to change both the economic and governance structures to be effective. This means we need to unlearn many things and reeducate ourselves on what it is to be human and to live harmonically in balance with this planet and all beings on it.
